Phase 2: Upate for the Weeks of November 17 & 24, 2025 with Thanksgiving Holiday Schedule

HOLIDAY SCHEDULE: 

There will be no inspection, maintenance, or construction activities on major highways over the Thanksgiving holiday from 6 a.m. Wednesday, November 26, 2025, to 6 a.m. Monday, December 1, 2025. Only work of an emergency nature will be considered.

DAY WORK:

Except for the holiday schedule, during weekdays, Monday through Friday from 6:00 AM to 3:30 PM crews will conduct a variety of work as noted throughout the I-91, I-691, Route 15 Interchange Phase 2 Project limits:

  • Maintenance and protection of traffic with lane and shoulder closures on I-91, I-691, and Route 15, and some local roads, as required.
  • Maintain stockpile locations, sweeping, dust control.
  • Excavate, backfill, form subgrade and place process aggregate base along Route 15 NB from south of Paddock Avenue to the Route 15 NB Bridge over I-91 south of the East Main Street.
  • Excavate, backfill, form subgrade, place process aggregate base, and install temporary earth retaining system on the I-91 NB Exit 16 ramp and the Route 15 NB Exit 67 off-ramp.
  • Install temporary earth retaining system for the Route 15 NB Bridge over I-91 North of East Main Street, and set and prep for steel erection.
  • Install concrete curbing for the on-ramp to Route 15 NB and I-91 NB from East Main Street.
  • Install drainage swales in the median of I-691 WB.
  • Prep for underpinning the Route 15 NB Exit 58 W Bridge to I-691 WB.
  • Excavate, backfill, formation of subgrade, place aggregate base along Route 15 NB south of Paddock Avenue.
  • Set formwork for various retaining walls and parapets.
  • Set and strip formwork for deck, parapets and approaches to the Route 15 NB Bridge over I-91 south of the East Main Street.
  • Prep, pour, cure, and rub concrete at various locations.
  • Set and strip formwork at the Paddock Avenue Bridge.
  • Drill and grout work at the East Main Street Bridge over Route 15.
  • Set/strip formwork on abutment 2 footing and stem of the I-91 WB Bridge over Gravel Street.
  • Install illumination structures at various locations
  • Onsite/offsite trucking.

NIGHTTIME LANE and/or ROAD CLOSURES:

Except for the holiday schedule, closures are possible Sunday through Friday nights from 6:00 PM to 6:00 AM as follows for bridge reconstruction work:

NIGHT WORK:

Except for the holiday schedule, Sunday through Friday nights from 7:00 PM to 6:00 AM, crews will conduct a variety of work as noted below throughout Project limits:

  • I-691 WB shoulder widening and pavement repairs
  • Installation of support of excavation at Paddock Avenue Bridge pier
  • Installation of micropiles at Paddock Avenue Bridge pier footing
  • Top course paving on I-91 NB
  • Excavate and backfill for pier footing at Paddock Avenue Bridge and Route 15 NB shoulder

LONG-TERM CLOSURES/TRAFFIC PATTERNS:

Paddock Avenue: one-way alternating traffic controlled by a temporary traffic signal, and nighttime closure/detour on Paddock Avenue over Route 15 between Barr Road and Overlook Road: read more here.
