Phase 2: Update for the Weeks of August 30 & September 6, 2026

LABOR DAY HOLIDAY SCHEDULE: There will be no lane closures scheduled from Friday, September 4 at 3:30 PM through Tuesday morning, September 8 at 6:00 AM, in honor of the Labor Day Holiday, except for the case of emergencies.

NEW RAMP OPENING: Opening of New Exit 64A Ramp from Route 15 NB to I-91 NB – The opening of the new Exit 64A ramp from Route 15 Northbound (NB) to I-91 NB starts Wednesday, September 2, 2026.

DAYTIME WORK:

Except for the Holiday Schedule, Monday through Friday from 6:00 AM to 3:30 PM crews will conduct a variety of work as noted throughout the Phase 2 Project limits:

  • Lane and shoulder closures on I-91, I-691, and Route 15, and some local roads, as required.
  • Excavate, backfill, formation of subgrade, place aggregate on Route 15 NB, from Paddock Avenue to the Route 15 Bridge over I-91 south of East Main Street.
  • Excavate, backfill, formation of subgrade, and form grade on the ramp from Route 15 NB to I-691 WB.
  • Excavate, backfill, formation of subgrade, and form grade on Route 15 NB from the East Main Street Bridge to the Route 15 NB ramp to I-91 NB.
  • Excavate, backfill, formation of subgrade, and form grade on I-691 WB from the I-691 WB Bridge over Route 15 to the I-691 Bridge over Gravel Street Bridge.
  • Damp proofing on the Route 15 NB bridge over I-91 north of East Main Street.
  • Permanent paving on Route 15 NB and from Route 15 NB ramp to I-91 NB to I-91 NB.
  • Excavate, backfill, formation of subgrade, and form grade on I-691 WB to Exit 2A.
  • Set and strip formwork for the parapet and end block for I-691 WB Bridge over Gravel Street.
  • Demolish pedestals on the North wall Street Bridge over I-691.
  • Set and strip formwork and pour pedestals for the North Wall Street Bridge.
  • Prep, pour, cure, patch at various locations.
  • Set and strip formwork for abutment 1 footing, wing wall back wall, pedestals, pier footings, column and cap for the Route 15 NB Bridge over I-91 south of East Main Street.
  • Install rebar on multiple bridges.

NIGHTTIME WORK:

Except for the Holiday Schedule, Sunday through Thursday nights from 7:00 PM to 6:00 AM crews will conduct a variety of work as noted. Please read information concerning our night time noise and construction work here.

  • Road, ramp and lane closures, as detailed below.
  • Steel erection and installation of overhangs and underdecking on multiple bridges.
  • Containment painting on multiple bridges.
  • Drainage installation.
  • Sign installation and removal.
  • On-site/off-site trucking.

NIGHT WORK – ROAD CLOSUREfrom 12:00 AM to 5:00 AM There will be 15-minute road closures on Route 15 NB Monday through Thursday nights, 8/31 – 9/3, and Tuesday through Friday nights, 9/8 through 9/11 for steel installation on the bridge.

NIGHT WORK—Lane and Ramp Closures:

Except for the Holiday Schedule, Sunday through Thursday nights from 7:00 PM to 6:00 AM crews will conduct a variety of work as noted with the following anticipated closures:

  • Route 15 SB – Lane closures (from the northern limits to the I-691 EB ramp to Route 15 SB) for steel installation.
  • Route 15 NB – Lane closures (from Miller Avenue to the Route 15 NB ramp to I-91 NB) for temporary barrier work.
  • Route 15 NB – Lane closures (from Miller Avenue to Paddock Avenue) for drainage work.
  • Route 15 NB – Lane closures (Exit 64B to 65A) for traffic shift (9/1 and 9/2) and temporary barrier work.
  • I-91 NB (Exit 16 to Exit 18) – Lane closures for temporary barrier work, bridge blast and clean, and steel installation.
  • I-91 NB Exit 16Ramp Closure (the I-91 NB ramp to Route 15 NB and I-91 NB ramp to East Main Street) Ramp closure for traffic shift, Wednesday and Thursday nights, 9/2 and 9/3.

LONG-TERM CLOSURES/TRAFFIC PATTERNS:

The On-ramp to Route 15 NB, I-91 NB and I-691 EB from East Main Street is closed temporarily for roadway construction and safety. Read more and see detour map by clicking this link.
