Phase 2: Update for the Weeks of April 28 and May 5, 2025

DAY WORK:

During weekdays, Monday, April 28 through Friday, May 9, from 6:00 AM to 3:30 PM crews will conduct a variety of work as noted below throughout the I-91, I-691, Route 15 Interchange Phase 2 Project limits:

  • Maintenance and protection of traffic with lane and shoulder closures on I-91, I-691, and Route 15, and some local roads, as required.
  • Maintain stockpile locations, sweeping, dust control.
  • Excavate and backfill cofferdam and dewater temporary earth retaining for retaining wall on Route 15 NB north of Paddock Avenue Bridge.
  • Install and backfill doublewall blocks and form and pour leveling pads for retaining wall on Route 15 NB north of Paddock Avenue Bridge.
  • Excavate for support of excavation for the Route 15 NB bridge over I-91
  • Grade and install permanent barrier at I-91 NB Exit 17 to Route 15 NB and Route 15 NB Exit 67 to East Main Street
  • Install permanent barrier in the I-91 NB median
  • Excavate, backfill and grade slope on I-91 NB at Murdock Avenue
  • Create construction access to Route 15 NB at Miller Avenue
  • Form and pour leveling pads and formwork for Retaining Walls
  • Formwork for the pier footing, stem, backwall, and wingwall of the bridge over Paddock Avenue
  • Formwork for the footing and stem for the Route 15 NB bridge over I-91
  • Bridge surface repairs on the East Main Street bridge over Route 15 and I-91
  • Support wetland planting installation

NIGHTTIME LANE and RAMP CLOSURES:

Closures are possible Sunday through Friday nights from 8:00 PM to 6:00 AM as follows:

  • I-91 NB                 Lane closures: Double Left Lane Closure (Exit 15 – 16)
  • I-691 WB              Lane closures: Left lane Closure (Exit 1A to 2A)
  • Route 15 NB       Ramp closures: Route 15 NB to I-691 WB (Exit 68W)

NIGHT WORK:

During the Sunday through Friday nights from 7:00 PM to 6:00 AM, crews will conduct a variety of work as noted below throughout Project limits:

  • Shoulder reconstruction on I-91
  • Concrete pavement removal on Route 15 NB to I-91 NB (Exit 68 NE)
  • Paving for leveling course on I-91 NB
  • Milling for concrete pavement repairs on I-91 NB and I-691 WB
  • Post-milling line striping

LONG-TERM CLOSURES/TRAFFIC PATTERNS:

Paddock Avenue: one-way alternating traffic controlled by a temporary traffic signal, and nighttime closure/detour on Paddock Avenue over Route 15 between Barr Road and Overlook Road: read more here.
