The Connecticut Department of Transportation’s Office of State Traffic Administration has authorized temporary speed limits reductions within the project’s work limits during construction. This will require temporary new “SPEED LIMIT AHEAD XX MPH” signs to be installed. Theses limits will be in effect from Sunday, September 7, 2025
Temporary reductions in the speed limit are as follows, and see companion graphic:
- On I-91 NB:
- From ¾ mi. before the Murdock Avenue overpass – from 65 MPH to 55 MPH
- From just before I-91 NB Exit 16 to ¼ mi. past the Route 66 overpass – from 55 MPH to 45 MPH
- From north of the Route 66 WB overpass to Middletown rest area – from 65 MPH to 45 MPH
- On Route 55 NB – Reductions to 45 MPH
- From ¼ mi. south of Miller Ave. overpass to north of the Route 15 NB Exit 66W – from 55 MPH to 45 MPH
- On I-691 WB – Reductions to 45 MPH
- From Route 66 to the just east of the North Wall Street overpass – from 55 MPH to 45 MPH
- From the North Wall Street overpass to the Broad Street underpass – from 55 MPH to 45 MPH
