NIGHT WORK
Anticipated work for these weeks will be from 8:00 PM to 6:00 AM (Sunday through Thursday nights):
Lane Closures
- I-91 NB – Exits 15 to Exit 18 for median widening
- I-91 NB – Exits 15 to rest area: installation of temporary barrier
- I-91 SB (Exit 18 to 17): bridge demolition
- Route 15 NB (Miller Avenue to Paddock Avenue.): Route 15 NB milling, bridge work, traffic shift, and installation of temporary barrier
- Route 15 NB (Exit 67 to Exit 68W): Route 15 NB milling and bridge work
- I-691 EB (Exit 2A to 1B): milling and paving repairs
- I-691 WB (Exit 1A to 2A): bridge demolition and installation of temporary barrier
Ramp Closures and Detours
Detour routes will be clearly marked:
- East Main Street on-ramp to Route 15 NB and I-91 NB and I-691 NB – Sunday 11/3, Monday, 11/4, Tuesday, 11/5, and Thursday, 11/7 for Route 15 NB milling, bridge work
- I-691 EB ramp to Route 15 SB – Sunday 11/3, and Tuesday, 11/5, and Thursday, 11/7 for milling repairs
- I-691 WB ramp to I-91 SB – Monday, 11/4, Tuesday, 11/5, and Wednesday, 11/6, and Sunday through Thursday nights, 11/10 through 11/14, for bridge demolition
- Route 15 NB ramp to I-691 WB – Thursday, 11/7, Monday, 11/11, Tuesday, 11/12, and Wednesday, 11/13, for bridge demolition
- I-91 NB ramp to Route 15 NB (Exit 17) – Thursday, 11/14 for temporary barrier installation
- Route 15 NB Exit 68 N-E off ramp to I-91 NB – Thursday, 11/14 for temporary barrier installation
DAY WORK
During weekdays, Monday, November 4 through Friday November 8, anticipated work throughout the I-91, I-691, Route 15 Interchange Phase 2 Project limits is summarized below:
- Maintenance and protection of traffic with lane and shoulder closures on I-91, I-691, and Route 15, and some local roads.
- Excavate, backfill, formation of subgrade, and concrete pavement removal at East Main Street on-ramp to Route 15 NB and I-91 NB and I-691 WB.
- Excavate for retaining wall for new Route 15 Exit 67 Bridge to East Main Street and culvert repairs
- Backup pavement and prep for traffic shifts on I-91 NB and the Exit 16 vicinity.
- Bridge repair work at the I-691 bridges over N. Wall Street.
- Bridge back wall and wing wall form work and concrete pour at the Route 15 NB Exit 67 off-ramp bridge vicinity.
- Install access for the Route 15 Bridge over 91.
- Install new illumination elements.
- Install permanent drainage at I-91 NB Exit 16 off ramp.
- Install micropiles at Paddock Ave. bridge abutments.
- Drill, prep, and test verification pile at the Paddock Avenue Bridge over Route 15.
LONG-TERM CLOSURES/TRAFFIC PATTERNS
Paddock Avenue: one-way alternating traffic controlled by a temporary traffic signal, and nighttime closure/detour on Paddock Avenue over Route 15 between Barr Road and Overlook Road: read more here.
I-91 NB/SB turn-around: Temporary traffic barriers have been installed across the I-91 NB/SB emergency turn-around located just south of the Murdock Avenue overpass. This closure will be I effect until approximately the end of October 2024. Read the alert on our website here.
