The Connecticut Department of Transportation is restarting work on the second phase of three projects designed to improve traffic flow at I-91/I-691/ Route 15 Interchange Northbound in Meriden. Work had been on hold over the winter months and is now ramping up again to meet the opportunities of the spring construction season. Work will resume on Monday, March 10, 2025
LANE CLOSURE INFORMATION WILL BE POSTED ON THE WEBSITE AND MAY INCLUDE:
- There will be lane closures on I-91 Northbound and Southbound Exit 15 to Exit 18 Monday through Friday 7 PM to 6 AM and 9 AM to 3 PM, along with Saturday through Sunday 7 PM to 9 AM.
- There will be lane closures on I-691 Westbound and Eastbound Exit 1B to 2B Monday through Friday 6 PM to 6 AM and 9 AM to 3 PM, along with Saturday through Sunday 6 PM to 9 AM.
- There will be lane closures on Rout 15 Northbound and Southbound from Exit 66 to Exit 68W Monday through Saturday 8 PM to 6 AM, along with Saturday through Sunday 6 PM to 7 AM.
- There will be lane closures on Paddock Avenue, East Main Street, Gravel Road, Broad Street, Miller Avenue and on adjacent streets Monday to Friday 9 am to 3 pm, and 6 pm to 6 am.
- Highway Ramps may be closed and traffic detoured Monday through Friday between 9 pm and 6 am.
- There will be shoulder closures on the above routes at any time.
DETOUR INFORMATION WILL BE POSTED ON THE WEBSITE WHEN THEY ARE IN EFFECT
- A detour for East Main Street on-Ramp to I-91 Northbound, Route 15 Northbound, and I-691 Westbound Off Ramp will be posted directing traffic eastly on East Main Street to Preston Avenue and to the I-691 Westbound on-Ramp. Once motorists on I-691 Westbound, and finally take Exit 1A for I-91 Northbound or Exit 10 for Route 15 Northbound.
- A detour for Route 15 Northbound Exit 68 N-E off ramp to I-91 Northbound and Route 66 Eastbound will be posted directing traffic to take Exit 68 W onto I-691 Westbound, then take Exit 28 to Lake Street then onto I-691 Eastbound on-ramp and finally taking entering I-91 Northbound at Exit 1A.
- A detour for Route 15 Northbound Exit 67 off-ramp to East Main Street will be posted directing traffic to take Exit 68 N-E to I-91 Northbound, then take Exit 18 to Route 66 Eastbound, then take Exit 1 to Preston Avenue and finally onto East Main Street.
- A detour for I-91 Northbound Exit 16 off-ramp to East Main Street will be posted to direct the traffic to take Exit 17 to Route 15 NB, then take Exit 68 N-E to I-91 Northbound, then take Exit 18 to Route 66 Eastbound, then take Exit 1 to Preston Avenue and finally take right onto East Main Street.
